Mount Everett Regional School - Sheffield, MA
Mount Everett Regional School is a small rural school with a focus on the deep integration of technology with the arts, and demonstrated success in empowering students to take charge of their own education. The school is known for its student technology enterprise program – TEK2000, its competency and credential based advanced technology programs, and its wide array of arts programs and technology enriched arts programs. A member of the Coalition of Essential Schools, the school has pioneered programs like block scheduling, graduation by exhibition, and community service. The school has achieved the best computer to student ratio of any school its size in the state. Glenn Devoti, Principal, and Paul O'brien, Director of Technology, are supported by a committed School Committee and devoted Faculty. They translate possibilities into reality, leading with innovation and empowering students to be successful.
  TechBoston Academy - Boston, MA
TBA is an innovative new pilot inner city school with a focus on empowering and motivating students through technology and the very best of research based pedagogy and school governance. We expect that this school will create new models for teaching and learning, while redefining the roles of teachers and students in schools, and we believe that what is learned here will be widely replicated across the country. The school will draw on lessons learned in years of success in Boston’s TechBoston student technology program. The Gates foundation and a number of other foundations, as well as public private partnerships, are making the creation of this school possible. Leadership by Mary Skipper and strong personal support from the Mayor of Boston, and School Superintendent Tom Payzant will help assure this school’s success.
